Ministry of TCT counts on Qualogy

Service and support above average

Some time ago the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Tourism had its document flow digitized by Qualogy. A huge step forward, until the database crashed. Qualogy immediately rushed to the rescue and professionally solved the problem.

Continue work as soon as possible

Ms. Thea Smith, deputy director of the Communication department and project manager on behalf of the Ministry of TCT, was pleased with the energetic support by Qualogy. “They responded professionally and meticulously. After we reported the problem, the support department first tried to solve it by phone. When that didn’t work they came here the very next day to get everything up and running again, so we could continue our work as soon as possible.”

Power failure

Mr. Sabiran, technical specialist of the Ministry, clarifies the problem. “The most likely cause was a power failure. As a consequence, the backup server did not start up properly anymore, and because of that the database could not be opened. That also blocked all access to the system. Of course this had major implications, not just for the workflow but also for filing.”

Reducing chance of recurrence

Franklin Nasoeki, Oracle DBA at Qualogy, explains why his company always recommends a support contract. “We provide a perfect and fully tested system, but there are always things you can’t control. Like in this case, a power breakdown combined with a failing UPS. Accidents will happen, and when they do it never rains but it pours. The Ministry did not have a support contract, but of course we immediately got cracking to establish access to Alfresco again, the document management system we implemented for them. We also took measures in the server room to reduce the chances of this happening again.”

Support agreement inexpensive

The Ministry of TCT now considers concluding a support agreement after all. Sabiran is positive about that. “There is always a need for support regarding application maintenance and repair. The supplier has a wealth of experience and specialized knowledge at its disposal. In addition, a support agreement is less expensive, comparatively speaking.” Thea Smith: “Qualogy will always solve any possible calamities quickly and professionally for us. They demonstrated that clearly. But with such an agreement we also don’t need to worry about the financial consequences anymore.”
