‘Enjoy life’
His name is in fact Mohammed Sehit, but people found that a bit difficult. “Everyone calls me Brian, and I don’t mind. I did Business Administration because I was good at economics and bookkeeping at school. After university I worked as a graphical designer for a while. First at Rusida, and later for the Times of Suriname. Next I became supervisor of a group of 15 at ‘Esso on the run’: that meant controlling, delegating and staff management. I started at Qualogy Suriname two years ago.”
Looking for solutions
Why the switch? “I really don’t know, I saw the ad and it struck me. I applied and got hired. I like it very much, my colleagues are open and honest, it is a learning organization and I get the opportunity to gain a lot of knowledge. When I’m a high professional in a few years, I would like to continue into management.”
A real team
What is important in Brian’s work? “I like to come up with solutions for problems, and that’s what it’s all about here. It should be a challenge, and it should remain a challenge. That is the way I can perform better every time. I work on multiple projects, set up servers and databases and help my colleagues with their DBA problems. We are a close team.”
Family time
His motto is ‘enjoy life, because it doesn’t last long’. Hence he has many hobbies. “I do some hiking, arrange music, create videos and photos, study and construct furniture. I like acting too. In addition I play soccer and jog three times a week.” With that many hobbies little spare time remains. “It’s not so bad. I spend a lot of time with my family. I have a sweet wife, Anusca, and two beautiful daughters, Xamayra en Ruheen, born in 2006 and 2005.”
